Mia did her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, where she double-majored in Molecular Cell Biology and Public Health. Afterwards, she moved down to San Diego to pursue her PhD in Biophysics at The Scripps Research Institute, where she had an ocean view while studying the structure and function of quality control proteins in mitochondria. While wrapping up her thesis, she moved back up to the Bay Area and got married to Nathan! As newlyweds, they decided to leave the comforts of home to help start Reclaimer College Church with the hopes of meeting college students who were just like them. When she's not in the lab at Moderna HQ trying to identify the next promising mRNA vaccine candidate, you can find her cooking up a storm and inviting people over for dinner, exploring a new restaurant, or chilling at a cafe!
